Josh Kerr vence etapa 6 estrelas do World Tour

Tudo indicava que o australiano Taj Burrow ia conquistar sua quarta vitória seguida no Circuito Mundial. Na final do Drug Aware Pro no último sábado em Margaret River, ele começou com duas notas na casa dos 8 pontos. Mas, Josh Kerr acertou dois aéreos sensacionais nos últimos minutos para acabar com a série invicta de Burrow. No maior deles, recebeu nota 10 dos juízes e a vitória foi confirmada por 17,03 x 16,50 pontos.

O Drug Aware Pro foi a segunda etapa com nível PRIME do ano. A primeira que valeu 6.500 pontos foi o Hang Loose Pro Contest vencido por C. J. Hobgood na terceira final seguida de Raoni Monteiro em Fernando de Noronha. O carioca é o brasileiro mais bem colocado no ASP One Ranking. Ele ficou em 17.o lugar na Austrália e ocupa a quinta posição na classificação geral. Já o campeão Josh Kerr subiu para sexto no ranking liderado por Taj Burrow, com grande vantagem de quase 5.000 pontos sobre C. J. Hobgood.

O Drug Aware Pro contou com grande participação dos surfistas da elite do ASP World Tour. Bede Durbidge foi barrado por Taj Burrow na semifinal e ficou em terceiro lugar, C. J. Hobgood e Adrian Buchan empataram em quinto nas quartas-de-final, com o campeão mundial Mick Fanning, Drew Courtney e o brasileiro Neco Padaratz parando nas oitavas em nono lugar. Foi nessa primeira rodada de baterias homem-a-homem em Margaret River que o cearense Heitor Alves e o uruguaio Marco Giorgi também acabaram se despedindo do PRIME da Austrália.

In the winter of '96/'97, while everyone was riding 6'1" thrusters featuring Slater's elf shoe rocker and long before the "retro fish" craze, two kids attacked the North Shore and beyond on 5'5" twin fins. Free as a dog - A true dog's tale is the new Billabong film staring Joel Parko" Parkinson and his faithful hound, Trey. As seen through the eyes of the ever-loyal Trey, who is also the film's narrator, the remarkable surfing talent of Joel Parkinson is showcased like never before. "It's an honour to be able to work with a surfer of this calibre. Parko is just so easy going and a regular good guy. From there the film title developed naturally as Parko and his dog Trey represent the true nature of the title," Jack McCoy reflects. Starring alongside Parko will be Northern NSW grommets James Wood and Ellis Ericson, both of whom are earmarked to be the bright future of Australian surfing. Ellis and James play the token surf trip grommets, which have a tendency to be distracted by beautiful beach babes. For the past year Parko, Jack, Ellis and Woody have been chasing banks, swells and whispers all over the Australian coast, scoring some of the sickest sessions to go down in 2005. Parko and Trey set off on a mission to help get a couple of groms (played by James "Woody" Wood and Ellis Erickson) back in line after they've gone off the rails in classic teenage puppy-love mode, fantasising about a beautiful dark-haired beauty played by Billabong free surfer Ashley Cheadle. Free as a Dog - A true dog's tale is the 24th film in a long line of classic surfing films by Jack McCoy. After its World Premier on January 2, 2006, at Sydney's State Theatre, Free as a Dog will travel internationally with the Billabong Jack McCoy Surf Film Festival until August 2006. Clay Marzo: Just Add Water

After being unveiled to the world in 2005 out movie "Young Guns II", the Quiksilver, and continue impressing everyone in "Young Guns 3" and "Tomorrow Today", winning the award for Maneuver of the Year in 2007 Surfer Poll Awards, the local youth of Maui Clay Marzo, 18, stars in this year his first film, "Just Add Water," which is touring the U.S.. Perhaps what few know is that in December last year, March was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, a variant of autism characterized by social isolation and eccentric behavior during childhood - which explains the different Jeitão and outstanding personality of the Hawaiian . Another aspect of SA is that the patients often have specific and intense interests in certain areas or activities.

It appears in Wikipedia, some scholars contend that great figures of history had strong traits of Asperger syndrome, as physicist Isaac Newton, the composer Mozart, the philosophers Socrates and Wittgenstein, the naturalist Charles Darwin, the Renaissance artist Michelangelo, the filmmakers Stanley Kubrick and Andy Warhol and the chess player Bobby Fischer. For March, it is clear that he turned his attention to surfing, the result of that special chemistry can be seen in "Just Add Water".

Em ondas com cerca de 1 metro e formação prejudicada pelo vento Taj derrotou o sul-africano Jordy Smith pelo placar de 15.57 a 12.56, na final do evento.

Para vencer, o surfista do Oeste australiano apostou todas as fichas em batidas e snaps muito fortes, sempre na parte mais crítica da onda e desenhou belos arcos com suas manobras.

Ele encontrou as boas da série, que fizeram toda diferença e ao contrário das outras baterias, desta vez os aéreos não foram sua principal arma decisiva.

Em uma disputa acirrada, os dois alternaram a liderança o tempo todo e o australiano só confirmou o resultado definitivamente em sua última onda, que valeu 8.17 pontos.

"Sinto que não surfei o meu melhor na final, só fiz o que deveria ser feito para vencer. Só esperei as melhores ondas e fiz umas curvas boas, nada de insano. Eu preferia ter tido a abordagem do Jordy, que pegou um monte de ondas e se divertiu. Esta é minha estratégia normalmente, mas desta vez funcionou diferente. Consegui ser mais paciente e seletivo do que normalmente. Mesmo assim eu sabia que Jordy poderia fazer um high score a qualquer momento", revela o aussie.
