Índia Cria Reef Artificial

Em um trabalho conjunto entre o Governo da Índia e a ASR Ltda, foi criado o primeiro reef artificial daquele país.
Sob o ponto de vista do turismo, boas ondas podem gerar lucros de milhões de dólares para cidades costeiras, que passam a entrar no roteiro de surfistas do mundo todo. Isso sem falar nos grandes eventos e na mídia que uma onda de nível internacional atrai.
Em algumas regiões do Brasil, grandes ondulações entram com certa frequência, mas por aqui não há um fundo que proporcione a formação de ondas perfeitas para a prática do surf. Normalmente, quando entra uma ressaca, as ondas fecham inteiras.
Com um fundo artificial, estas mesmas cidades podem receber turistas do mundo todo. A cada vídeo, cada evento, cada matéria na televisão, mais e mais pessoas viriam atrás desta onda, modificando o fluxo de turismo e melhorando a economia.
Vários picos mundo afora como Jeffrey's Bay (África do Sul), Bali (Indonésia), Sydney (Austrália), San Diego (EUA) e tantos outros cresceram e se desenvolveram por causa do turismo e da especulação imobiliária gerada pelo surf.

Poderiam fazer uma dessas no Brasil, não acham? Os surfistas do RS principalmente agradeceriam...

Crossing the Line - Bruce Irons

A Grass Shack Productions first release, is an up-close and personal look at Bruce Irons and the Kauai Boys, both at home and abroad. This movie proves that there must be something in the water, literally, of this Hawaiian island that breeds world-class surfers. Bruce, Andy, Dustin Barca, Kamalei Alexander, Reef Macintosh, Adam Guy and Chava are just a few of the boys holding it down in macking barrels and outrageous free-surf sessions.

Just for kicks, Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning, Sunny Garcia, Taj Burrow, Joel Parkinson and Cory Lopez join the fun from Tahiti to Pipe to Indo, while Bruce and Andy steal the show. Crossing The Line serves notice that the younger of the Irons brothers is ready for his moment in the competitive spotlight!

Mick, Myself and Eugene

Mick in Triplicate Mick Fanning: Party animal, competition machine, soul surfer.

When Rip Curl’s most elite surfer suffered a career threatening injury mid-way through 2004, the entire Rip Curl world felt the pain with him. Out of action and stuck at home doing rehab, Mick Fanning was a fish out of water.

The time away from the hectic competitive season ended up a blessing in disguise though, as Fanning refocused and took to training with reckless abandon. The result? He rejoined the World Tour in 2005, won two events and finished second at the Pipe Masters and secured third place overall on the World Rankings.

Film-maker Jon Frank has been right by Fanning’s side since that injury mishap in 2004 and together with Mick and Rip Curl has documented the time since in the film, ‘Mick, Myself & Eugene’.

With Hog, Darren O'Raff, Occy and Pancho all guesting on the flick, there's no doubt it's got its fair share of good surfing.
