Junior Faria fatura etapa 5 estrelas do QS

A Praia do Cardoso ficou lotada no último dia da etapa inédita do ASP World Star no paradisíaco Cabo de Santa Marta. O paulista Junior Faria, 23 anos, não deu qualquer chance para o catarinense Pedro Norberto na final de poucas ondas surfadas. Ele faturou o prêmio máximo de 16.000 dólares e 2.000 pontos no ranking mundial da ASP e no sul-americano da ASP South America. Uma outra etapa também valendo para os dois circuitos começa nesta terça-feira em São Sebastião (SP).

Os dois finalistas nunca haviam vencido um evento internacional. Junior Faria fez uma final no ano passado numa prova no México, sem tanto valor como o South to South Santa Marta Pro de nível 5 estrelas, que dividiu um total de 120.000 dólares entre os 96 melhores surfistas do campeonato. Pelo vice-campeonato, Pedro Norberto, 28 anos, levou 9.000 dólares, com os semifinalistas Caio Ibelli e Hizunomê Bettero recebendo 4.500 dólares cada pelo terceiro lugar no Cabo de Santa Marta.

O catarinense Pedro Norberto barrou o campeão brasileiro Pro Junior de 2010, Caio Ibelli, com o Junior Faria derrotando outro paulista, Hizunomê Bettero. Na grande final, de 35 minutos, só entraram ondas nos primeiros 15 minutos e Junior Faria já largou na frente com uma nota 6,83. Pedro logo deu o troco numa longa esquerda em que aplicou nove manobras, porém sem variar muito, recebendo uma nota 7. E ele parou só nessa onda, pois depois ficou apenas esperando e não entrou mais nada.

Já o paulista Junior Faria pegou mais duas para fechar o placar da vitória em 15,13 x 7,0 pontos, somando notas 7,40 numa esquerda detonada com batidas retas e rasgadas jogando muita água e 7,73 em um aéreo rodando sensacional numa direita que achou quando faltavam 18 minutos para acabar a bateria. Ainda entrou uma série de ondas no último minuto, mas todas fecharam rápido demais para o catarinense Pedro Norberto conseguir uma nota 8,13 no mínimo para ficar com o título.

This will no doubt go down as the best drive thru ever. The crew started the trip in capetown and drove their way up to jbay where they watched donnie play a concert at the wct event. Along the way they raced ostrich's and got some fun surf with only one minor shark scare. The drive thru crew watched donnie play with tom curren,occy and had a lot of the surfers there to watch, they then made their way to durban where they surfed empty sand bar points for the next 5 days and even got to ride the flo rider. Where donavon and benji stole the show. They had the first anual martin potter surf contest and even drove thru the transkai. Which is now officially not the scariest place in the world. They surfed another right point where an australian surfer was eaten whole 2 years ago. Ended up at jbay for the last 2 days to get it as good as it gets with kelly. Did the worlds largest bunji jump and called it a trip. Oh yeah they also watched donnie get bit in the ass by a lion cub, almost run over a giraffe and stayed at backpackers the whole trip. Surfers: Donavon, benji, pat , noodles, and mike losness.

Teton Gravity Research (TGR) presents Out There, a 16mm and HiDef film taking a progressive, fresh look at what faces the surf world today. Humankind threatens many pristine and favourite surf breaks and surfers need to take action. In partnership with the Surfrider Foundation, TGR's Out There takes viewers to a variety of breaks around the world, showcasing the cutting edge surfing of today.

Through the eyes and experiences of surfers and locals, the film takes a thought-provoking look into the environmental destruction threatening key surf spots such as Trestles in Southern California, surf in Southern Chile threatened by pulp mills, Teahupoo and its growing popularity, mainland Mexico, North Shore Hawaii near the Turtle Bay development and beyond.

Out There incorporates state of the art cinematography utilizing board-cams, water-cams, land perspectives, jet-ski follow cams, and aerial cinematography. Through personalities, travel and explosive action the film will convey a seamless portrayal of the lifestyle that is surfing amid destitute of some of the world's favourite surf spots.

A cearense Silvana Lima sagrou-se campeã da etapa do World Tour que rolou em Lima, no Peru. Em grande estilo, a Brasileira venceu o Movistar Peru Classic 2010, quinta etapa do World Tour encerrada nesta terça-feira (8/06) em San Bartolo, Lima, Peru.
Na final, Silvana venceu a vice-líder do ranking Sally Fitzgibbons pelo placar de 16.50 a 11.17.Com o triunfo em Lima, a Brasileira soma 1200 pontos no ranking mundial e ainda faturou um cheque de U$ 15 mil.
Bruna Shmitz, a outra top braileira, foi eliminada na repescagem e conta ainda com quatro etapas para se manter entre as dez que se classificam automaticamente pro WT Feminino 2011.

Este imperdível filme, conta a história de Occy, desde o início da sua carreira como surfista profissional, incluindo a sua vitória em Pipe aos 15 anos de idade, passando pela abrupta interrupção da sua ascensão, até ao regresso ao trilho da glória no mundo do surf.

Este dvd, que nos fala sobre o caminho do lendário Occy, uma influência profunda na história do surf, através da sua atitude, determinação implacável e as suas poderosas manobras, venceu o prémio Surfer Magazine de melhor “Vídeo do Ano”.
