Lost Atlas

Lost Atlas is the follow up to Kai Neville’s 2010 film Modern Collective. Kai Neville is surfing’s most progressive image-maker and returns with the world’s best surfers to create a new wave of futurism with his new project Lost Atlas. In “Modern Collective,” Kai Neville brought on the six most brilliant performers surfing could muster, and the academy approved. For his new collaboration, Kai rallies a dozen more surfers, including the original six for Lost Atlas, a project to defy all norms and expectations. A location based film shot in under 12 months, it takes the viewer on a candid jaunt into surfing today through the eyes of the most progressive, young surfers in the world.

Bustin Down The Door

 Bustin' Down The Door is a 2008 documentary film chronicling the rise of professional surfing in the early 1970s. The film follows a group of young surfers from Australia and South Africa, including Shaun Tomson, Wayne 'Rabbit' Bartholomew, Ian Cairns, Mark Richards, Michael Tomson and Peter Townend, as they relocate to Hawaii encountering obstacles, turf wars and massive wipeouts along the way. Clashes with the locals, some of whom find the newcomers' bravado to be insulting to Hawaiian culture, eventually culminate in death threats against the subjects of the film.

The soundtrack includes music by David Bowie, The Stooges, Eels, Leonard Cohen and Them Terribles. The Original Score was composed by Stuart Michael Thomas.

Jordy Smith takes back-to-back at Billabong Pro J.Bay

Jordy Smith (ZAF), 23, has taken out the 2011 Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay in a hard-fought Final over Mick Fanning (AUS), 30, in front of the raucous and hardy hometown crowd on the beach and hundreds of thousands watching online.

Event No. 4 of 11 on the 2011 ASP World Title season, the Billabong Pro culminated in dramatic fashion today with “victory at sea”, three-to-four foot (1 – 1.5 metre) surf and the world’s best surfers displayed their comprehensive abilities to shred anything from yesterday’s perfection to today’s challenging conditions.

Smith continuously posted impressive scores throughout his Quarterfinal, Semfinal and Final heats, but it was his local knowledge that allowed his to select the best waves in the Final to overtake an in-form Fanning. The win was met with an eruption from those in attendance braving the harsh weather, and Smith was cheered up the beach to an emotional audience.

The Kerrazy Kronicles

The film is filed via country, and ridiculous waves are scored worldwide. From big Hawaii and fun Indo, to pumping Snapper and Todos Santos. All the locations you’d expect to see, captured from fresh angles and set to head nod-inducing beats. Barbados barrels haven’t seen film since Kelly Slater in Campaign 2 and the Soup Bowls footage got the crowd hooting for more. That, and the footage of 16-year-old Kerrzy and his Goldie crew, back when they all rocked homey steeze. Pure hilarity.

The film’s clearly influenced by early …Lost videos, which is a welcome change from everything that’s touched down out lately. Primarily a surf flick should stir a desire to shred, and by the time the credits roll you’ll want to paddle out.

At the conclusion of the film a chorus of “yews” and “aahs” rang out, and shot glasses were clinked. Good, old fashioned fun at a good, old fashioned film premiere.

Dane Reynolds signs with Vans

Dane Reynolds (USA), 25, progressive surfing innovator and stalwart member of the ASP Top 34, has been out this season, rehabilitating a knee injury sustained last season in Hawaii. While the surfing world awaits his return to competition, Reynolds has been re-familiarizing himself with the sport via trips to Central and South America. Amidst the rehab and training, Reynolds recently signed with ASP’s Hawaiian Triple Crown sponsor Vans for all his footwear needs. This…is their story…

We are extremely excited to announce the addition of Dane Reynolds to the Vans Surf Team. Dane is one of the most exciting and unique surfers to date and brings a quiet sort of revolution with him. His approach is completely different to what’s been done and his reach touches every facet of surfing. For decades Vans has been home for people choosing their own path and it’s a pleasure to be able to uphold that principle to this day and have Dane become a part of it.

The 25 year-old from Ventura, CA has already made his mark on the ASP World Tour with Top 10 final rankings in both 2009 (10th) and 2010 (4th) – just his second and third years on tour, but Dane is much more than a contest surfer. When a surfer is described as straddling the demands of the pro tour while simultaneously establishing himself as a top free surf talent, perhaps no one reaches such heights in both worlds as the ultra-talented and creative Dane Reynolds.

Lost Prophets

Lost Prophets-search for the collective is an adventure documentary that follows nine surfers in different aspects of life; from a renegade canyon dweller to devout West Javanese Muslim the film delves into different aspects of surfing; all the while centered around the Indonesia surf escape.

Some people live life asleep, only dreaming their awake. Amongst the unstoppable trend of surf globalization there are certain individuals who have found a way of waking up. Lost Prophets the film portrays a vivid picture of lives intertwined by adventure, balance, dedication and connection; bridging generations. Travel the world with the lost prophets as their stories unfold during some of the best Indian Ocean waves documented in the past decade.

My Eyes Won't Dry 3

Filmed over the course of the last three years, Brian Conley’s My Eyes Won’t Dry 3: Tubular Addiction is a cosmic journey through tubular time travel. Perhaps it was the funny smelling smoke wafting through the air of the La Paloma in Encinitas, CA. during the world premiere of Conley’s latest and greatest, but I was blown away by the quality and tubular radness of the latest installment of the My Eyes Won’t Dry series. Filmed around the world, the flick takes the viewer from Mainland Mexico to Indo and all tubular points in between.

99% hand-held point of view surfing, I don’t remember too many turns or airs—the movie is all about the tube. For some folks (my wife included) there were too many tubes, but in my eyes, tube riding is surfing’s Hoy Grail and an entire movie dedicated to the act is just fine.

With cameos by well-known pros Reef McIntosh, Bruce Irons, Nathan Fletcher, and Bol from Bali, the star power is there, but the real scene stealers are the underground bros that Conley’s been surfing with the last few years, dudes like Greg Russ, Gray Richards, “Sharps”, and “JS” who all pull into Mack truck sized barrels with and without the help of jet skis.

The groovy soundtrack was done by the talented Michael Eaton and the film was edited by Nathan Apffel, the same guy who made the highly acclaimed Lost Prophets: The Search For The Collective.

Samba Trance & Rock'n Roll

Produced in 2004, Samba Trance & Rock'n Roll is producing and directing Rafael Mellin, with artistic direction of Marcellus Viana, Mellin and Julio Adler and soundtrack of Tony Mazot, Mulato Beat, Siri, Mugomango and home meal.

The main stars are athletes Danylo Grillo, Marcondes Rocha and Bernardo Miranda.

Mellin spent a year traveling with them to places like Indonesia, Hawaii and Mexico, and explore the Brazilian coast from north to south, including the archipelago of Fernando de Noronha.

The production brings together the best highlights of the trip, highlighting the characteristics of each athlete and emphasizing the profile and testimonies of three comrades, drawing a parallel between different musical beats, styles and waves - and also rely on images from competitions.

The film also features performances by Sylvio Mancusi in waves over 50 feet in Jaws, Fabio Gouveia parading his style mainly in Sunset, and the new generation of talent as Brazil and Eric de Souza Faria Junior, all team members Hang Loose, brand that sponsored the production.
